Apollonia Kotero

Patricia Apollonia Kotero, an American actress and singer is a former model. Her most well-known role was co-starring in the film of Prince's Purple Rain and for having been the lead singer of the girl group Apollonia 6. The group was just one of the female artists that benefited from Prince's association throughout the 1980s. The actress was born Patricia Kotero in Santa Monica California in 1959, her work began as a model and actress by the end of the '70s including an appearance on the TV show CHiPS. In 1984, she was cast as the title of female lead in Prince's Purple Rain (during which time the singer altered her name) and was replaced by Vanity as a member of the female group Vanity 6 which performed on the screen under the name Apollonia 6. Sex Shooter, a minor smash hit from the soundtrack was her most chart-topping hit. Kotero and Prince have a disagreement regarding her career. Apollonia6 split, Kotero was not able to continue her relationship with Prince. The actress appeared in several tiny films, such as Purple Rain's sequel Under the Cherry Moon (which she declined) after which she was offered the role of Falcon Crest on the Night-Time drama Falcon Crest from 1985-1986. Apollonia could finally release her debut album in the year 1988. However, the album didn't leave a lasting impression on music lovers and soon faded from the music scene. The following decade saw she continued to be active in the field of acting (if somewhat unnoticed) and also in a few film roles, television appearances and even an exercise film. In 1997, Apollonia made a record in English and Spanish called Stay With Me. She later returned to school earned a filmmaking degree as well as a production company, often working on children's television. Apollonia Kotero is famous as a multi-faceted person.
